Graduate Assistants

The Graduate Assistant (GA) support MENACC in connecting Yale graduate students and professionals to the center through programming and outreach efforts coordinated with center staff. As a key member of MENACC’s leadership team, the GA works closely with the Assistant Director, peer liaisons, and undergraduate student coordinators to oversee and manage center-wide programs.

Hana Hamdi, RN, MPH is currently pursuing an advanced practice degree in Nurse-Midwifery at Yale University. Formally a Clinical Data Analyst at Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, her goal has always been to uplift women and marginalized communities. She holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Women’s & Gender Studies from Rutgers University and an MPH in Epidemiology from Columbia University. She has worked primarily on research studies and needs assessments in many different contexts, such as a Child Friendly Spaces program evaluation for Syrian refugees living in Jordan, a needs assessment for palliative care in hospitals in Senegal, surveillance of childhood asthma in New York City, and an evaluation of a health workforce strengthening program with IntraHealth International in Uganda. She is excited to bring her global perspective to enhancing the MENA center.

Mohamed Ahmed Ramy

Growing up in the busy streets of Cairo, Mohamed Ramy like many Egyptians loves to be around constant bustle. After graduating college, he traveled on a Thomas J. Watson fellowship to five countries to understand how refugees and displaced communities recreate “home”. Ramy lived in a Palestinian refugee camp to cooked Koshari for a Colombian NGO, all while learning that wellness happens outside hospital walls. After working with the United Nations Development Programme for three years, he decided to join the Yale School of Medicine to obtain his medical degree with the ambition of delivering holistic clinical care to vulnerabilized communities. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College in neuroscience and a master’s degree in international affairs from Tsinghua University. His hobbies include dancing Salsa, watching old Arabic movies, reading foreign literature, and trying out new cooking recipes!
